463475b7769391a38e68cff2685be507Charmeine handed Shane a cup of coffee. She placed her cup on the table and rubbed her head. Explaining Blood-Hunters and Light-Bearers existed was going to be a tough job.

Tabbruis looked into Shane’s eyes. “First thing you need to know is that our stories will sound strange, but listen to our explanations with a calm mind.” He took a deep breath. “I am an orphan, too. I woke up on a rock in the desert many centuries ago with only the knowledge of my name. I did not know where I was from or how I got there. Charleen understood because that is exactly how it happened to her. However, she cannot remember anything past 1997, except for a dream.”

Charmeine smiled at Shane and nodded her head.

Shane’s piercing blue eyes were suspicious, but when he looked at Charmeine, he acquiesced with a nod. She was not one to bend the truth. Deep in his heart, he knew however fantastic the information was, he could trust her with his life.

Tabbruis wiped his big hand through his dark chestnut hair, “When I woke up, I learned I was not a Human. I needed blood to live on.”

Shane took a quick breath of disgust, looked down and pounded the table. He thought, This is enough crap!

Gut Check“Look at me, Shane,” Charmeine ordered.

He saw her eyes as they flashed with intensity.

“Tab’s telling the truth. I told you he needed blood last night. I don’t lie, and I’m not lying about this.”

Shane crossed his arms in defiance and shook his head.

“You wanted to know what was going on. Now, you can either listen or leave, Shane. I will not tolerate your disrespect. If you want to know the truth, then get rid of the attitude, now.”

Shane noticed her hardened expression. When Char was this determined, she was not a woman to be trifled with. He knew she wasn’t going to take any of his back-talk. He sighed and drank almost all of his coffee. “Okay Tab, Char said something like that last night, but I can’t do this without more coffee.” He got up, poured himself another cup of coffee and sat down. “Go on and talk, man. I have to admit, Char never lies.”

wallstreet-041Tabbruis sighed with a little relief, “Just like your body runs on food. I run on blood. For a long time, I hunted humans to survive. I thought that was my destiny. However, I stopped. I could not inflict harm anymore. I made a conscious choice to only drink animal blood and/or human blood if it was donated.”

Shane opened his eyes wide.

Tabbruis and Charmeine could see his brain starting to process the information.

For some, belief in paranormal is laughable.

When I wrote this scene from

MACTUS,

the 2nd novel in The Light-Bearer Series, I wondered…

How would you react if someone you trusted said they were paranormal?

How far down the Rabbit-Hole would you go?

Lots of love, Emily

Had to rock this one, enjoy the video!
